March 26th Genl. Smith and Lieutenant Bowman escorted by Maj Gordon's Co came up to see the Post and troops, some of us having never had the pleasure of meeting them. They seemed well pleased with the Post and condition of the garrison. Of course they visit the cañon, and the ladies going out we make it a little picknick party, taking lunch on the brink of the Cañon. |
