Well in consequence of the twisting up of R.R. financial concerns, that pay roll has not got round yet; and by present appearances, will not till the middle of Aug! However I happen to have pretty good neighbors; & live by borrowing quite comfortably! Politics - go ahead. give it to Taylor & Cass Men, best you know. I belong to the great "Free Soil Party. Hurrah for Martin Van Buren! Now those Barn Burners go into it! One of em says "the only thing which renders the result in this state at all questionable, is the mischiefous attempt of a few dissatisfied democrats to run a third ticket, with Gen Cass for the Candidate."!!! Good! What do you think of John A. Dix? Lets hear your project for British debt. Open a correspondence with Sir Robert Peel, or some of them. What "Demonstration". You speak of Genealogy, Heraldry &c. It is something I am considerably interested; have wanted much to know more of. What information have you and where did you get it? Do share it with me. Do you understand heraldry? would understand a Coat of Arms; if you found it. I believe I have somewhere met a Mayo coat of arms before I was interested in the subject though; would give ten dollars to get hold of the Metcalfs. Thought of writing to England. Most ashamed to though till I have consulted some of old corners of Harvard Coll. Library |
