This present sachem follows his fathers stepps in his love & fidelity to the English but moreovr through the grace of christ, about 4 or 5 yeares sinse hee did embrase the chtian Religion, after some time of very serious considereation & hearing Gods word preached, & I have charity & faith to beelive him to bee an honest chtian man beeing one that in his conversation walkes answerable to his knowlidge hee prayes in his family & is carfull of keeping the sabath, loves to hear Gods word sober in conversation. After he was withdrawn for fear as is before touched, there was a company of English Soulders about 100 sent under capt mosly to pennagog where it was reported there was a body of indians but it was a mistake for there was not above 100 in all of the pennakog & Namkeg Indians whereas wannalanset was cheefe. when the English drew nigh (whereof hee had inteligense by Scouts, they left their fort & withdrew into the |
