4/10/09  One of the gray team was badly [[unclear]] while skidding logs early in Feb. and apparently cut into the coffin joint. The animal stood on three legs for several weeks. The farrier [[unclear]] poulticed and otherwise treated it believing it would come out well if not entirely sound but the animal begun to show signs of complications and rapidly lost flesh & strength Evidently blood poisoning - [[unclear]] [[unclear]] [[unclear]] being unable to rise its hind legs so could not get up or stand when assisted to its feet. And as a small act of humanity it was shot to end possible needless suffering.
