what shall I infer from your observation respecting the mothers of eminent men is it that I must despair of ever having any eminent men among my sons - or rather having any of my sons eminent men supposing my expectations were never rais'd very high on that point perhaps I may have them fully realized - I should like to know what you and E think about the propriety of my returning to raise them a little higher yet.
