I guess they have each thought that the other slighted them - I am Much acquainted but Angella seems to be a serious sensible good sort of woman at any rate Everett has very much improv'd in his appearance since his Marriage.

you have probably recieved with Josephs last letter quite a disappointment - which I percieve by your last letter you have been preparing yourself for, by so confidently expecting him to visit you. He did before he went to Hampden walk to Almeda's & back again after resting a while - and ride to the post office with James to wait upon him but he is not able to do either now but his appetite is better than it was & I think he is gaining strength a little. I think he does read to much (you know how hard it is for him to be idle) I have been making him a Syrup of roots etc. mean to get hm to ride a little every day as he is able to - we have not much variety of food this time of year wish we liv'd near a market (on his account) & I had money.
I rejoice that you have Such an agreeable companion in your Assistant. Please tell me the result of your acquaintance with the "Old Maid,, Do you write to Mary Tower now a days? Is Engineering good business if you can never have time to visit your friends or get Married even?
The weather has been so exceedingly dry this long time that one field of Charles corn has fail'd of getting out of the ground at all which is quite disappointment it being highly manur'd in the hill he says is the cause this last sentence it well put together perhaps you can guess what it means
