I wrote Lucy a full account of the matter will not take room now to go into detail, only to say that I thought seriously of going, the salary would be more than I now receive, the labour and burdens less; probably, but the care and confinement would be incessant, I did not quite like the name and sound of it, now the looks & character of the man so I declined, but recommended Miss Bright, who had written me begging to find something to do , but my letter to her was delayed so the place was supplied before her answer reached me. I purchased at Chicago a new shell comb, and a  barege de laine at 12 1/2 per yard;I have not bought many articles of dress since I came my Mantilla I have worn four summers and it is quite a genteel article now.
