My mind is much impress'd with the importance of having, efficient, trusty, & energetic, Captains in Schooner Brandywine & Senator. Having propos'd in a recent interview with Mr. Furber certain schemes to that end. It is perhaps inexpedient to dwell upon the subject at present. I understand that S.D. Thurston is about commencing in the Coal business. Will not this furnish to Schooner Brandywine tolerable profitable employment, to which by her structure she is well adapted?
19 From the good trade that Hathorne made on the Senator and from other circumstances I should think it advisable to collect your pay of him about as fast as you earn it exercising much less levity therein than heretofore. Mrs. Lee returned day before yesterday without visiting yourself as I am told.
