[[?]], yet nothing of the kind could be discovered & he was greatly perplexed - but about a week before they went home, two small bunches of clotted blood were washed away with a syringe - they had remained in the sore since last fall & prevent its healing, which it did immediately after they were removed. You recollect it began bleeding after it was done up by Dr. Shepherd & he did not undo and cleanse it, as he should, which caused all the trouble. He, Dr. Mc, felt very unwilling to reperform the operation if it could be avoided as he said the parts were misplaced somewhat and he should have to feel his way, instead of knowing what he was about, & it would be both difficult & dangerous.
