Oct. 31. The detachment expecting to cross Tennessee river tomorrow and leave forever the land of their fathers, Brainerd church assembled, for the last time in their native country and adopted the following resolutions viz:

First. Resolved that we will not dissolve our connexion as a church.

Second. Resolved that while on our journey, we will, as far as practicable devote the Holy Sabbath to the public and private worship of God.

Third. Resolved that on our arrival at the place of our temporary rest, we will not consult simply our temporal interest, but also our spiritual good, and that of our children, in selecting a place of residence.

Fourth, should a kind Providence preserve us, during the long journey before us, and permit us to settle in the west, Resolved that it will not be our duty to unite in Christian fellowship with any members of Presbyterian or Methodist churches who voted for the New Echota treaty, or signed it, or assisted as a committee in executing it, inasmuch as they acted by usurped authority, in opposition to the known will of the national chiefs, and the great council of the Cherokee people, thus disposing of property not their own, and placing the life of the whole nation at the mere meny? of speculators -- violating a law essential to the very existence of every nation or community, holding their possessions in common -- exposing the whole population who would not acknowledge the justice of such usurpation, to be taken by armed soldiers, dragged
