Hiram Thomson was drowned in Stillwater last week the body was not found until Sunday - he was brought and buried yesterday. Mr. Small is appointed here another years, Mr. Parker started this week to go to Boston and about for relaxation possibly you may meet with him. Mother has thought some of applying for the mills school for you, but it is not pleasant.

I think you did very well in your French letter: it would take me a long time to write so much in that language, I had just a hurried perusal of it at Bangor & have not seen it since, do'nt know whether I could detect any blunders on it.

We have picked a great many strawberries this summer: Mary thinks she has eaten as many as three gallons. Raspberries are not vera plenty. I have not done quite so much studying as I talked about last spring when you were here.
