Your letter from Point Chautauqua post-marked July 31, but not dated is here Saturday- Its been terribly hot today with a hot wind blowing. The corn is mostly plum gone & beyond all help - no matter how much it rains. The thermometer goes over 100 every day. Maybe we can live thro the winter but more likely we will all dry up & blow away - Any way its getting pretty serious - I'm glad you folks have found a cool place but Kansas is not the only hot place. Maybe you have told me this some time before - Did you go thro to Westfield with out change? Are John Carrie in Washington now?
