If you aught to have obtained the liberty of the Indians, as well as the U. S. when you first entered the Teretory, because they had the local government - So, as soon as Georgia took the government into hand, her licence became as necessary to your continuence, as theirs was at first. This, right or wrong in itself considered, became the course you aught to have pursued -- For Christians have no right given them to Judge of the right, or wrong of the governments of the World, but to submit. And it might be well for you to examine whither the whole history of the Apostles furnishes one instance of resistance to the laws of the nations, in whose bounds they taught the Salvation of Christ - and whether in all instances where persecution was raised against them, Tho attempted, it could not be sustained that they had broken any of their laws; and wherever they were opposed with violence and had an opportunity They did not withdraw, and go and went --lined out to an other place. & that you had followed this example!

The tone of your letter is woe and dispassionate and pleads much more for your piety than a Sound? and discriminating Judgment. I hope and pray you may in Christian caution be persuaded to retreat, before you cause more disgrace on the Christian Name, and contempt on the missionary cause, and bring the U.S.'s Gov't and the State in to a more sanguinary conflict.
Wishing you grace to make a wise use of the dispensation of divine Providence, which has suffered you to fall into a disgraceful punishment, and to enable you to adopt a course, and crown it with success, which may bring you a speedy, and peaceful deliverance. I subscribe myself in Christian regards.
