It was rather disagreeable weather wind blowing a steady breeze from the south accompanied with rain, but in all circumstances there is generally something to render our situation tolerable, even when we are surrounded with unpleasant scenes, for 'tis not necessarily the case that our thoughts should be retained to buffet the storm. The brisk breeze was to me in this instance a source of delight! The broad canvass which, square above square, towered to an imposing height, and made the noble vessels seem things of life, as they wheeled and "tacked" obidient to the helmsman's nod, called up no ordinary feelings. |

On the following morning the first day of May I took the unclear Boat for New Brunswick. It was rather disagreeable weather wind blowing a steady breeze from the south accompanied with rain, but in all circumstances there is generally something to render our situation tolerable, even when we are surrounded with unpleasant scenes, for 'tis not necessarily the case that our thoughts should be retained to buffet the storm.
