Dear Mary, - I find I shall not need have you get that I spoke of for my [?] bag - the one that I have is perfectly good now that I have cut about an inch from one end. - As to the auricles, I do not know as I can wear them - I put them on to try last evening for a few minutes and I could not see as they helped me much if any. I am sorry you have had so much trouble about them.

We had a very severe thunder storm today about 10 A.M. One flash of lightning seemed very near tho' a little west of our house. When John Eddie came from school he said that he and three other of the children felt the shock quite hard. He was near the window and felt it in his breast. Annie and Libbie Thomas were setting with their backs to the stove, and felt it between their shoulders - Georgie Watkins also felt it - how thankful we ought to be that none of them were killed. -  Anna is spending
