Tuesday? 28 May 1805, a clear pleasant morning damaged area off as usual? and proceeded on passed over hard riffles. the steep cliffs ? ? yesterday abt 10 oc Capt Clark killed a mountain sheep ? about noon. we halted to dine near some old Indian camp Some thunder & Small Showers of rain which lasted about ? then proceeded on a pleasant afternoon. toward evening the hills began to get lower passed large bottoms, partly covered with? wood timber passed Several Islands 7 or 8 in the ca?? ? day some of them handsom groves of timber on them ? ? nomber of large creeks on each side of the river ? since the gravel stone from the hills in to ? river, we came 21 1/2 miles & Camped in a bottom ? on the N.S. large creek came in on the ? ? Saw a gang of elk in this bottom & beaver ? ? a large bottom on the S. Side ? all floating down the river ?
