This is a lovely day -- we all well but Sheridan & baby -- none of us went to church .  last friday Julia Sullivan sent a note to me saying she was ill and wished I would come and see her.  I did so and found her very low with consumption -- which she has had many years. I went twice to see her to day -- she could scarce speak -- and at twelve O. clock at night she died.  poor Julia had a hard time -- sick for many years, and yet toiling for her living -- she was once seamstress for me--

This is a damp day -- but does not rain -- my baby shows no signs of recovery yet -- is very much oppressed in breathing -- Sheridan has been sick every day since the party -- he is quite sick -- Sister Belle came and spent the day with her little family -- we stayed at home [[nursing?]] all day --Mr[[s?]] Harrison called to day -- I have been all day suffering with a pain in my side from nursing my fat baby --

It is warm to day & sunny -- I think it is our Indian Summer.  baby better to day-- but Sheridan worse -- suffering much pain in his bowels -- Mrs Hunt & Sallie called -- so did Mrs Semple & chidlren --& Mrs Barrets children and Mrs Heywood & Cochran and Fannie [[Henning?]] -- also the Morris,s -- my children out riding

It is a beautiful day -- all of us well, but Sheridan -- he still quite sick    I have been up night & day with him & baby for a week.
 
Saturday Oct 17th
 
It is a bright day -- Sheridan much better -- Sister Belle came and spent the day with her family -- my three girls out visiting in Sister Belle,s carriage      at one O. clock my husband arrived from Chicago    had a bad sick headache -- he brought me a splendid scarlet velvet bonnet  a white Plush hat for Ada -- Mattie Belle and one for Sallie Carter -- also two brown silk beavers for Mrs Tuckers children -- I made them prensents for them -- and a black Plush for my baby -- and a silk beaver for Sheridan -- and Onyx earings for Belle & Eva and a pair for Mattie Faulds.  Belle & Eva went to Tuckers to supper.
 
Sunday Oct 18th
 
It is a beautiful day -- I went to Christ church -- with my three daughters we went to see Siss -- Henry Tucker & Herman Newcomb called to see children. I wrote a little to day -- my children better --
 
Monday Oct 19th
 
Virginia & I went shopping -- my children better.  Sister Belle came up to see us    Mr Badger & children took breakfast with Mr Shreve.  Mr Badger and David dined with Mr. Shreve & after dinner we all went out to drive.

Monday Oct 12

Sheridan is better to day -- but baby is very sick with Pneumonia. I was up a great deal last night with him -- and to day he is no better -- it is a bad day -- raining and damp. I wrote to Joe, Mr Badger & Pa -- Dr Casparri is coming to see the baby -- Ellen and I was up most of the night with baby again.

Teusday Oct 13th

It is very damp -- but not raining -- baby still the same -- no change Dr says he has decided Pneumonia -- Virginia & children gone to see Siss. Fredricka has brought me a very pretty basket -- she made for me -- of cows horn and paper flowers. Dr Came again to see baby -- Mr Hunt called to see me -- I wrote the invitations for Mattie Shreve,s party to day --
