You will get Kansas news much better from the N.Y. papers than I can give them. Indeed we have to wait till the "Tribune" comes to get reliable accounts from other parts of the territory. There are various stories circulating now, some very alarming, about the conditions of things here. The inhabitants in our settlement here are utterly opposed to bloodshed and anarchy, and will not take up arms unless in strict self defense. Five slave state men were killed last Saturday night up the Pottawatomie. This was most deeply deplored and condemned by the entire community here. They held a meeting and condemned it in the strongest language, and resolved to do what they could to bring the offenders to justice.
