Brainerd C.N. February 28 1829 Respected Sir Please to accept a few lines from me perhaps you cannot read my writing for I have not been writing but a few weeks. I have been to school two years and I am nine years old. I am thankful to God for sending missionaries to teach us the way to God they come out and teach us they have left their parents we ought to strive to learn very fast so we can teach our brothers and sisters and other heathen children. I have friends that died, I felt very sad but I could not help it. a brother that I loved dearly and a grandmother and two Uncles and a cousin but I must not murmer because he took them away for it is right, perhaps it was that? we might think more about dying. Death may come when we will not think it will if we should remove I don't know what would become of us we would be scat..d? about it may be that we never see the missionaries anymore who have been so kind to us and have done so much for us. This is the first letter I ever wrote. Please excuse my bad writing from your friend Susan Taylor Jeremiah Evarts Esq.
