Monday Dec 2st 1862
This has been a curious day.  it is like April sunshine & shower -  it is quite warm.  Mattie Sheridan spending the day with us.  Virginia & I went down town to buy Christmas gifts --  May Bowles came to get us to give her some toys for the Orphans.  I gave her two dollars and Virginia gave her five cry dolls.  Sister Belle & children doing as well as could be expected.  my children went to Hunts to dancing school.  David & I went over after them -  children went to see the Adams children -
Tuesday Dec 22st 1862
After breakfast Sister Virginia myself and all the children went to the toy shops to buy Christmas -  the weather is mild but damp.  we returned at three O.clock and found my Husband had arrived from Chicago -  he quite well -- after ten Mr. Hunt came to see us -- we all well  -  Sister Belle's children getting well
Wednesday Dec 23rd
After breakfast I went in Sisters Carriage and took all five children and the nurses to visit -  my children called on Mrs Morris.  Hunts Adams Prathers Bells  Musingers Zanes  Hites & Pages.  Heywood  Tuckers  Eashes  Hopkins & cc  after we returned home we went down town and bought Christmas.  Mr Badger gone out -  I made a tree for Sister Belle & children and also one for my children
Thursday Dec 25th [sic]
It has rained almost all day -  at 11 Oclock I went with all the children to Mr Haywoods Church to a Christmas tree for Sunday school children -  my children received gifts of the tree -- everything passed off handsomely  Our tree at home was pretty and my children received many gifts and gave many -- Tucker children gave them lockats -  Sister Belle sent them many many gifts -  we all well -

Saturday continued

Ada danced a hornpipe well. Sheridan wore a Zouave dress full of gilt buttons on pants & shirt - he looked fine - he is only over three years old and danced a fancy dance - the Polka he also danced all the Quadrilles - without mistake - after we returned home children went to Prathers to Tea.
