we proceed on our march at 8 o clock, we halt at one near the town of [[Conowahallow?]] which was small and compact while we were refreshing our selves the town was Burned when by appearance had ben an asylum for tories we discover some large fields of corn on the opposite side of the river which we leave till we return we have leave the river and march 7 miles mostly on a plain where we [[scamper?]] in a square and feed our battle and horses in it. We have a cold evening and night
