The scene or transformation was complete & the effect very beautiful. We passed thro' the Gap & encamped in the valley five miles or more from the mountains. As I passed the Peak, I took a good look at the nook in the mountain side, where "Bighorn Bob"'s great exploit was consumated. and the incidents of our former trip flashed thro' my mind, but it was only a brief & distant view, as the clouds driven by the north wind soon hid the mountains. & when we reached the valley below night was rapidly approaching & soon the only light about us was
