IN SOLEMNIZATION OF THE FEAST OF THE GLORIOUS SAINT ANNA
From the Grooms in their Church in Borgo Pio, SONNET, DEDICATED TO THE MOST EMINENT AND MOST REVEREND SIR CARDINAL ALDERANO CYBO MOST DESERVING PROTECTOR.
SOW the ancient Adam to the Man the thorns As fertile be with Spikes the Soil; Be the Earth barren, and without hoarfrosts, And denies its rains penurious the Pole.
So today the wonderment beyond the limit from an infertile soil banished is the grief, Whereas penurious are not the Divine Graces, if they fecundate a bosom with one fruit.
