Messrs Richard Taylor, [[unclear]] Sanders, & [[unclear]] Foreman, are appointed a Select Committee to take into consideration & report on, so muhc of the principal Chief's Message, as relate, to the loans due to the National Treasury. | |||

The Committee met according to adjournment. | |||
The Select Committee on the public loans made the following report: | |||
"The Select Committee to whom was referred for consideration so much of the principals Chief's Message as relates to the public debtors, by leave to Submit the following report for your consideration: | |||
"We have taken seriously into consideration the Subject submitted to us, and believe, under the present circumstances, further indulgences ought to be given to the public debtors; yet is should be upon such principles as will finally secure the debt to the nation. |

We would humbly pray you to take some measure, if possible, in your wisdom to suspend the collection of the loaned money, until the session of the ensuing General Council. Compliance with the petition of this memorial, as we hope it is a reasonable one, will do a great good & will give a general satisfaction, to your humble subjects. David McNair 5th Sept 1828 WS.
