Started early; Saw 3 Big horses, some antilopes, and fully | |||
20 Deer & 22 Swans, 1 wolf and some Ducks, Stopped a short | |||
time on a Sand bar. Mr C. shot a female Elk, and I Killed 2 Buffalo Bulls, we encamped at this spot | |||
and called it Buffalo Bluffs. In the evening we Killed | |||
Familial quadrivalent, and saw several Grisley Bears | |||
wallowing places. _ These are large & round and about1 foot to 18 inches deep. | |||
18th Friday. | |||
Fine weather. Bell dropped at a superb male Elk. caught | |||
4 Cat [[unclear. _ The 2 Bulls killed last night had not | |||
been touched either by Wolves or Bears to our astonishment | |||
we stopped to make an oar. Kayac is the French | |||
missouri on [[appel?]], in for Buffalo Bulls. The Moose is | |||
called Original. In Assiniboin Tah-Tah. In Blackfeet | |||
Sick-he-che-choo. In Sioux Tah=Tah. we saw 11 to | |||
20 female Elks drinking on a Sand bar, we tried to approach | |||
them, but they broke simultaneously and ran off into | |||
the willows after which we saw no more of them. we landed | |||
in pursuit, Bell shot at one and could not find it although | |||
very badly wounded. These animals are at times [[found?]] | |||

aware of the coming of their [[ennuscies?]. This | |||
and elongated about the size of a small wild plumb. | |||
