Your dispatch of December 3rd. just received by special messenger. I sent by special messenger yesterday an answer to yours of December first and second, and saying that I could establish the Camp from here. I am glad of your final purpose to delay establishment of post until spring. Morrow has gone on his scout and I will let Davidson go on with his. I will recall MacKenzie and get him ready by first of March for new post. I intended going to Caddo to-morrow to arrange with you and to stir up the contractors, I will now remain here until I receive your orders concerning prisoners and ponies. | |||

the Commdg. Officer Fort Griffin, it has been determined to defer the establishment of a Camp on McClellan Creek until spring.
The General Commanding has decided to bring your Command in for the winter. He directs therefore that you break up your Supply Camp, sending Lee's Co. "D.", Davis Co. "F" and Wint's Co. "L" 4th Cavy. to Fort Richardson with sufficient teams and supplies. Beaumont's Co. "A", Gunther's Co. "H", 4th Cavy, Park's Co. "I" Kelton's Co. "C" and Hampsons"s Co. "K", 10" Infy. Kislingbury's Co. "H", 11th Infy. to Fort Concho and the balance of your transportation to be divided between Concho and McKavett, wherever they can be made most comfortable. In this arrangement it is supposed, that Boehm's Co. "E" and Heyl's Co. "K" 4" Cavy. are at Fort Concho. If you have already ordered in any of the other Companies to any of these posts, let the arrangement, you have made, stand, unless you desire to change it. The General desires that you report to him in person at San Antonio, where he will be by the 25" inst. You can come by whichever route you prefer, bringing maps, reports, &C. Enclosed please find copies of letter to the Lieut. General and his telegraphic reply. You can send your Indian prisoners to Concho or Richardson, preferably Richardson. I am, Colonel, with respect Your obdt. servant (Sgd) G. B. Russell Aide-de-Camp
