         I have talked with Jones and everyone else about the fight, and can only learn of one indian killed at the fight.  We had none killed, but three wounded, Jones says there was too much talk.  They literally sacked Shirlays store nearly under the eyes of the troops.  The report about Viele not being able to get his even mounted when the indians first fired was incorrect.  The men all behaved admirably, Morrisons Company had the honor of firing the first-shot.
