Dear Sherwood, Gosh! it is good to see a letter in your pe- culiar old fist on my desk this morning! I havent heard from you since that correspondence about the novels. And I havent seen you for nigh onto two and a half years! As for the correspondence about the novel - fir God's sake I hope you didnt let thatunderlined worry you I got a thrill out of the idea at the time. Those brain children are gathering dust in my home den while I've been busily engaged elsewhere - socking old man Depresh. I've met more variegated hells in the last three years than I ever imagined. That's part of the fun of it - watching to see when and where one will get jabbed by a hot pitchfork next - and sidestepping. Nevertheless -- of course I can't let my fountain pen and scratch paper alone. Right now I'm collaborating - yes again! - with a publisher who had a hurry-up call for a Historical Romance.
