Dear Mr. Conroy,

In the fall of 1972 as a beginning graduate student at Kent State University, I had the privilage [sic] of reading underlined: The Disinherited and underlined: A World to Win with the help and direction of Dr. Lewis Fried. Your novels stirred me deeply and left a lasting impression on my mind. Since then Dr. Fried has guided me further into the reading of stimulating proletarian works.
Now that I am at the stage of searching for a dissertation topic which is stimulating and close to my sentiments, I find myself often considering you work.
I would very much appreciate you [sic] response on this matter and would like to know if it is at all possible for me to meet you for an informal interview - it would be a great honor for me.
    I thank you in advance

Sincerely Najwa Hashem
