The Ex. Committee of Knox College
The Ex. Committee of Knox College desires [?] -- to bring in the absence of Rev. Fr. Buscum chairman of our  Ex. Committee that they desire you to come immediately to this place of which Rev Buscom wrote you
    We have paid Miss Hayes five hundred & fifty dollars last year. Of course we should not expect you to teach less. I am this moment in ill health or I would see all the members of our Committee and write more definitely as to [[?]] but the Committee are pleased that you make the amount of delay second to the great interest of education --
    The year opens Sept. 3d which is now at hand, and the correspondence with other graduates of Mt. Holyoke has delayed our getting a lady on this ground so that we want you here without an instant delay
