Definitions
A. Holy post about which were the sacred things, & most holy place. This was considered the seventh post. B.B. Holy place, including all that part of the house west of the two posts C. D. where no common person must go. E. F. G. The three white seats. These had backs as wide as the seats were long, which extended up to the joist above. Several pieces of carved wood were put on the backs and ornamented with various [[figures?]], as M. the back of each seat,

D. where no common person must go. E. F. G. The three white seats. These had backs as wide as the seats were long, which extended up to the joist above. Several pieces of carved wood were put on the backs and ornamented with various figures, as H.. the back of each seat, extends to I. the joist above. This is one of the seven extending round the house, at a certain height, forming seven sides. All the joists and the backs of the seats are white only as they may be marked and ornamented. What other ornaments besides New moons & the oval [[board?]] marked as above, I cannot tell.
K. L. M. Distinguished war seats - that in the middle for the captain of the host, or high priest for the wars - that at the right for his right hand man, and that at the left for his speaker. N. Seat for the candidate for the offices of Capt. of the host or high priest for the wars, at his consecration. These sacred war seats had backs to them, but how high, or in what manner ornamented, I have not learned. All however were red.
O. White seats for the civil & religious counsellors, others also on common occasion occupied these seats back as far as the posts C.D. In modern times females, on entering the council house turned to the right, & the men to the left.
