St. Jacinto 10 Miles  - here it is but a [?] this time of the year it is but a rivulet  - 2 miles more brought us to [?] St. Jacinto (dry) - 4 more to  Lindleys  settlement  - To here the land is pleasantly wooded - with pretty patches of Prairie - "when one wants much to debate" - And here now with height of Summer all is green and corn/Maiz is ripe -both cotton which is [?] to Houston.  Land here becomes nothing-ness Though pebbles and traps of [?] of iron - Mr. L. believes there are Mulatto Matters some 30 miles from [three unclear words] the Trinity
