"You are" said he, "under very great obligations to God your creator, that he was pleased to bring you to an acquaintance with religion at an early period, & hath blessed you with the important advantages of an education. You are desirous to become a preacher of that gospel, which hath brought life & immortality to light - the work is good, but your motives may be wrong: and these are naked and open to the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
