14th Had quite a severe gale last night = did not feel much fear Prayed to him who overrules the storm to keep us all and he has kept us. O how full of gratitude should we all be. 15. Last night arrived safely at Chicago Ill. Went to the Sherman House and met there one of the Committee Mr Wright - This morn have seen all of them except two or three. They have assigned places for five of our No. I am to go to Hadley about 30 miles from this place - As the time for action approaches I sometimes feel my courage fail, but I must trust all to God - he directs all things right and I feel that he will send me to the very station where I ought to go and make useful there. | |||

18 Visited one of the public schools in Chicago - one of the finest schools I ever knew - government perfect. In afternoon & evening attended meeting of convention - Mr. Greene Secretary of Board there. |
