Nicholas called on her the day previous and has not yet left town  I did not have an opportunity to see them.

No Sermon in forenoon - enjoyed  the day much - I meet some little perplexities here which I has not thought of before. hope my stay here will be of great benefit.  I think a person who is in the service of the public mass be ready for encounters not by little troubles & it may be some severe trials, but God is a present help.  He is able and willing.

Nov 20 - Letter from home and from Emiline - My own dear Emiline.  How full of [[graht -- gratitude?]] should I be that God preserves my dear parents & brothers from sickness and death.  Oh for more love more ardent love to my dear Heavenly Father.  - Went to Lockport and bought me a dress.
