the locality for the works had been badly chosen, so that during a rise in the river not many weeks since, the waters broke in upon the establishment & I now saw it in a ruinous condition carrying away a Back mill, & Tarpits. It is very questionable if this spot be adapted to this operation. In the first place [[?at?]] can be said as to the salubrity of it & secondly there is not a sufficient supply of cattle & hogs so as to make it profitable. With good apparation, persons who understood the management of it [[spland?]] on some part of the Western shores of Texas, when cattle could be well raised  I do not see what is to prevent the [[?n?ss]] of such as undertaking.
