To their end the young are dependent on their teachers and the aged for the lessons of knowledge and wisdom and the fear and worship of God, and all men are mutually dependent for those admonitions, councils and directions both by precept & example, that are necessary to advance the soul in the progress of virtue and religion and the way to eternal life.

 2. They that neglect to preserve the lives of others by suitable means, when in their power, must be considered as accessory to the death of others and guilty of a species of murder. The same means that are lawfully used to preserve our own lives we are to use to preserve the lives of others. This duty is founded on that second command of the Law, which comprizes all the duties and obligations of the second table & enforced by X's example & command thou shalt love they neighbor as thyself. The same kind of love that we bear to ourselves, when we defend ourselves from injuries - when we shun things hurtful and dangerous to life, when we use means to preserve and save life, are we by this law to use toward our fellow men. And also the same kind of love that we have to ourselves in pursuing & securing our spiritual & immortal interests, are we also to put  in exercise to save the souls of our fellow men, & be mutually promoters of each others eternal life.
