I thought of you, dear Mary, And of our friendship true And of the happy moments That we had spent with you.

And then I thought of Jesus And of his precious words When speaking of the lilies And of the helpless bird.

For though he kindly watches and guards them tenderly His love is tenfold greater For such as you and I.

And still to make us swear That we are held most dear
