In the worship of God, there are some things that are [[matify.g?]] to the pride of the heart & to man's natural love to sin & the vanities of the World & also to that good opinion of merit & worthyness which man is disposed to entertain of himself. Acceptable worship therefore implies a humble, teachable & resigned spirit willing to know God's Will & to do it.

   To worship him acceptably, it is necessary that we give up & renounce all sinful lusts as all anger, pride, consori?sness?]], worldlymindedness & that the heart be pure & sincere & kept unspothd? from the world, indulging in or allowing of no sinful desire or suffering the heart to harbor unclean [[lasts?]]. [[Ob?ro.g?]] that divine direction keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the [[isness?]] of life. To worship God acceptably we must worship him in Way of grace, revealed in the gospels, by which are assured of acceptance only in the name & thro' merits of J.X. - The plan of our salvation without merit in as & only thro' the perfect righteouss of the Redeemer of Men, is the only way in which we may approach a holy & justly offended Deity with acceptance. J.X. is the way, the truth & the life & there is no coming to the father but by hin.

That we are transgressors of that perfect moral Law, that demands constant sincere & universal Obedience, that cannot allow of a single transgression, that makes no allowance
