breakfast at 7 left Liege? at a little before 8 /7 in leaving the town just before us was a a body of soldiers winding the Hill which looked very pretty - some very pretty ? arrived at Aix La Chapelle at 10 minutes past one had dinner immediately at the Hotel Des quatre saisons we were told that there was no time to see the cathedral & we have nothing although we found on arriving at the station that we were about 25 minutes too early The Rail Road started at half past 2 & arrived at Cologne at half past 4 we stopped at the Hotel de Bellevue from where we went as soon as a carriage could be found for us to see the church de St Piere where we saw the picture by R_ of the crucifixion
