the 21st. Lay by: it rained all day. the 22. Crossed Allegheny hills. Came to the Clear fields. --- 16 miles. the 23. came to the Shawano Cabins. --- 34. the 24. Found a dead man on the road who had killed himself by drinking too much whiskey. The place being very stony we could not dig a grave, and he smell'd very strong; we laid him between two old logs + covered him with stones + wood, and cut a great many saplings over him, & went on our journey. Came to the 10 miles leak. (lake) --- 32.
