It is a most noble school. About 60 scholars now. 70 at first, some had to leave for lack of room.  I hear about 20 classes per diem, ought to have nearly 1/2 hour each. I crowd them into 7 hours. I have about as good classes in most branches as was usual at Foxcroft Academy. Mathematics better, 2 classes in Latin. Virgil & Reader. 3 classes in French, 12 scholars, 2 of them have read more French than I have though my Education, in that is complete! Burritts Astronomy 12. Philosophy most 20, Chemistry, History, Geometry, Geography &c. Also Upham & Abercrombie. Large classes receiving Smiths' & [[unclear]], Welch's Arithmetic. Colburn's, Baileys & Smyths Algebra, Smyths', about 12, first rate, many of them been about through it before.  In fact I believe the school would average more forward & better school than Foxcroft Academy, the Scholars here have had better advantages than ost who attend there.

I am very much obliged to Lucy for her advice &e. Will answer it soon The complaint of rotten potatoes appears universal. They say it is not so bad just here as most every where else about, but here about half are rotten & the rest rotting fast. That is of the mangoes, others rot not so fast quite Charles is late about his grain. Most all the grain, I guess they do not raise a great deal, was harvest when I came here 3 weeks since, all cut, some few stooks standing out. People cutting corn then & yet, digging potatoes. My health is good. Perhaps I eat too many apples for one who has not been accustomed to much fruit lately; Still I am well, though they say I do not fat up any yet, as I was intending to. You know I always have grown poor teaching. But this school, great as it is, besides being High, is not hard. I believe I never taught a school which fatigued me so little as this. It really is not much if any harder than good hard day's work. The government is exactly nothing. There is none of that constant, Argus, Argus yet vigilance, watching small scholars, eyes & mind constantly stretched which worries 7 vexes me to death in a common school. Large classes receiving Smiths' & ?, Welch's Arithmetic. Colburn's, Baileys & Smyths Algebra, Smyths', about 12, first rate, many of them been about through it before. In fact I believe the school would average more forward & better school than Foxcroft Academy, the Scholars here have had better advantages than most who attend there.
