the foliage is much more heavy that at Bangor the house seems all in shade the garden is in shade emphatically quite overshadowed with weeds. our strawberries are all gone lettuce & asparagus over grown & with every thing so choked with rank weeks as with very much retard their growth . we are to have little fruit this season. Neither peaches pears nor quinces (one of the trees being in decay. the other with but three or four quinces on it. but few of the apple trees bear & we shall have very few grapes. our currants are nearly ripe & very abundant.
