There is nothing in nature that points it out or conjoins it; & no doubt it last came from the sacrifice made by Noah, a his disembarkation from the ark, on the forebence of the grand cataclysmal, or deluge: (Gen: Ch VIII.v.20. And Noah builded an altar unto the Lord; & took of every clean beast, & of every clean  forest, & offered burnt offering & on the altar. When we find it in America, are we to imagine it commenced spontaneously, without an original & extended itself universally over the whole contempt?
