And whereas by the said Act entitled "An Act for the "payment of the public Claims for emitting Bills of Credit and for other purposes therein "mentioned", passed at a Session of Assembly begun and held at the City of Annapolis on Saturday the first day of November in the Year seventeen hundred and sixty six [in pencil a above the line: 1766] it was among other things enacted that Bills of Credit of the denomination of Dollars and aliquot parts of a Dollar to the amount of One hundred and Seventy three thousand seven hundred and seventy three Dollars should be printed and struck and that the Bearer of any the said Bills should be entitled to receive Bills of Exchange payable in London at the rate of four shillings and six pence sterling per Dollar for any of the said Bills and that his Lordship the right Honourable the Lord Proprietary or the Governor or Commander in [?charge?] of the Province for the time being at some time betweent the twenty fifth day of March and
