20. Visited Gallery of Fine Arts to day.  Some most exquisite painting - a few by a Roman painter - Signore Narducci.  Hardly dare to 'look ahead" - sometimes feel that I have undertaken more than I shall accomplish.  The work grows longer & larger as I view it, but there is help in one.
May 23 Sunday.  Baptist meeting in the forenoon.  Text Psalms 96-6. Presbyterian in P.M.  1st. Tim 1-11.  Oh that my stony heart bight be softened by divine grace - that I might feel as well as know the infinite benevolence of God.  the love of Ch. and my need of the influence of the Holy Spirit.
