No person was allowed to sing the yo wu, or to imitate the notes of those whippers, but such as were appointed on this occasion. On this day all fasted till near sunset, and then the sacrifice & manner of eating as in the care of smallpox. The second night was spent as the first, only the dance did not continue longer than till midnight. The same ceremonies were observed on the second day as the first, only the fast continued but half the day. Thus also each day was improved till the seventh; on which, as on the first, they fasted till near sunset.
