The tall [[piles?]] of Chimneys are immense - out of which thick black Columns of smoke are continually rolling forth - I will not pretend to [[ennumerate?]] the number of Foundaries, forges, nail factories, Cotton Manufactories, Glass works & the like that are continually in operation here. There seems to be great enterprize in evry department. One morning I took occasion to saunter out upon the Hill which skirts the town on the East, in order to obtain a full view of the Whole City - I went early - all was | ||
