Received a letter from the Indian Office confirming my journey here and asking me to make a general inspection for agency & school sites and to investigate the conditions on all sides and keep him advised as to the situation. Mr McGary brings me further reports of the ugly feeling among the Indians and that they are espicially displeased with the coming of an army officer for Agent. I do not believe all of this -- but think there is some foundation for the rumors | |||
