left | left Bassano at 8 oclock in the morning + at 10 it began raining + did not cease until we arrived at Mestre before which one of the horses in the charriot fell down twice but no one sustained any injury from it though the Postilions leg was caught + he was held down until one of others went to his assistance We reached Mestre at [?3?] oclock and left it as soon as Gondolas could be procured for our large party and the carriages could be attended to for they were left there until we leave this; our two Gondolas were rowed by [[4?]] Men each, + after w long hours (for it was very wet & disagreeable, which made time pass more heavily) we were landed safely at the Hotel Lion Blanc which is sittuated upon the Canal Grande + from which we have a nice view of the old but fine buildings | ||
